Artwork Inspiration

Fiona Hall - 'Creation of Adam'

Tracey Moffat - 'Something More'

Tracey Moffat's - 'Something More'
The piece of artwork i chose of Tracey Moffat's is a photograph. It is one photograph from her series of nine images which share the title 'Something More.' Moffat has manipulated the photograph to create a vivid contrast in the textures. Moffat manipulates the background of the photograph by painting on the surface of the photographic paper, whilst leaving the female in the centre of the photograph untouched. The use of this technique has allowed Moffat to reach her goal of creating an image which looks like a film set. To produce this artwork Moffat initially gained inspiration from the title of the work, which she then portrayed through her arrangement of objects and people in the frame, which present the theme of wanting 'Something More'.

Fiona Hall - 'Creation of Adam'

Fiona Hall's 'Creation of Adam' is a photograph from the series, titled genesis. It's unique coloring and texture is gained by Hall's use of a gelatin silver photograph. The contents of the photograph have a sombre and melancholy persona which are directly related through the coloring of her work. To create this distinctive look, Hall has suspended silver salts in gelatin over acetate or resin coated paper and allowed it to dry. Through the artistic medium of photography, Fiona has been able to achieve a collage effect through different layering of photographs. The cooper color of the image compliments the subject matter of her work.
